A new chapter, and model, for biomedical research.

Applied Biomedical Science Institute - Fueling Cures.

I had been doing cancer and immunology research for several years before my late wife was diagnosed with an aggressive, rare, and drug-resistant form of breast cancer. The experience of care-taker and widowed father suddenly became my identity, even more so than scientist and doctor. I quickly realized that the way we do research- prodding along in the laboratory to make incremental progress- had to change. We need a system where exciting basic discoveries can be rapidly transitioned to help patients. The traditional paradigm where university scientists publish their results with hopes that a drug or biotechnology company picks up their research and ‘translates’ it to the clinic just isn’t optimal. So, we started the Applied Biomedical Science Institute, where we perform early-stage research and drug discovery, and have established collaborations with exciting companies to help move impactful science to where it belongs – in the clinic helping patients. We are new to the CFC, and hope you share our vision of establishing a new model for innovative and translational biomedical research. Some of our research is government funded, particularly through NIH grants, but we also have significant corporate funding as well. But we need your help too. We are already pushing forward with several cutting-edge projects in cancer, autoimmune disease, neurology, and next-generation vaccines. Please explore our website and feel free to contact us with any questions.

Sincerely,
