On May 4, 2021 Ben, a 2 year old Siberian Husky, was found abandoned on a property in Barton County, Missouri. Ben had been chained to a trailer. He was cold and scared. HSMO’s Animal Cruelty Task Force rescued Ben from his horrible living conditions. On May 5, we began rehabilitating sweet Ben. He was in shock and completely shut down in the shelter. He would hide in the far corner of his kennel. One of our shelter reading buddies, Liam, cam and read to Ben. Liam came back and read to Ben again. This time Ben was much more relaxed. Liam’s family inquired about fostering and was approved to foster Ben at home! Slowly but surely, Ben came out of his shell and lived his fur sibling, Bootsy. After a few weeks of fostering, they decided to ADOPT!!! Ben had been in his forever home all along.
